The 2nd Annual Leesburg Volksmarch For Veterans non-competitive walk and fundraising event will be held on November 11th, 2016 at the George C. Marshall International Center from 12pm-5pm hosted by the VFW Post #1177 of Loudoun County.
Perfect opportunity to bring out the family and walk the dog!!
Funds raised from this event will be used to support various much needed upgrades and repairs to the post’s building to help create better experiences for our facility renters and our post membership. Funds will also be used to help veterans families in need (for example, we helped a veteran’s wife pay her rent).
All registrations are tax deductible.
The VFW Post is comprised of over 200 veterans who served our country during WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, actions in Bosnia and other distant places, and most recently during the current Global War on Terror.
IVV Credit Is Available
Participation for IVV credit is available through the American Volkssport Associations Loudoun Walking and Volkssport Club for a separate $3 registration fee payable on the day of the event.
More information for IVV walkers is available on the club’s website at www.loudounwalkingclub.org.
What To Expect
At the event, you may choose to walk from two walking routes to get an overall glimpse of the Leesburg’s homes, parks, churches, and businesses: 5k & 10k.
Both routes will traverse historical downtown Leesburg and surrounding neighborhoods as well as portions of Ida Lee Park. The 10k walking route includes additional parks and a portion of the W&OD Trail.
Walkers may start anytime after 11pm, but we encourage 10k walkers to start before 1pm and 5k to start before 2pm to allow adequate time to complete the route and enjoy refreshments after the walk before both routes close at 5:30pm.
Food and alcohol (beer and wine) will be provided at the event from 12PM to 5PM).
